What is PTTD?

PTTD is an inflammation or overstretching of the posterior tibial tendon in the foot. This tendon connects muscles to bones and stretches across joints, enabling you to bend your foot. PTTD impairs that ability often resulting in flattening of the foot and lack of range of motion. Common PTTD symptoms include:

  • Pain and swelling
  • Flattening of the arch
  • Inward rolling of the ankle
  • Arthritis in the toes and ankle
